Singing in the Rain

Calvin is 17 months old!  I am getting behind in blogging.  I have all these great Bahamas pics that I have not posted yet.

At 17 months:
- Calvin is high-energy, running around all day, playing outside, playing with ALL of his toys, resisting naps as much as possible (he usually sleeps only 1-2 hours per day, and often that is closer to 1 hour)
- First words:  ma-ma, da-da, na-na, bye-bye, uh-oh, bad, bird, "bah" (ball)
- Favorite toys:  large cars he can ride on, squigs, legos, blocks, shopping cart, baby doll, books, flashcards, balls
- Favorite foods:  hot dogs, mac n'cheese, grapes, peas, marshmallows, eggs, fruit loops, cookies
As you can tell from his pictures, Calvin is a little sweetheart with a ready smile.

Boston Harbor

We took Calvin to the New England Aquarium, and he absolutely loved it!  He loved all the fishes, the other children, walking/running around the harbor, and eating Indian food at Quincy Market.

Calvin's feelings about Santa could not have been clearer.  However, he does love Christmas lights (and he cried when we took the tree down!), and he is a big fan of presents, too.

Birthday Boy

Calvin started walking shortly before turning one year old.  It was a very short time (days?) between his first steps, and his first attempts at running and kicking at balls!  He is a bundle of energy who loves everyone.  He is still our little musical baby, who loves to sing and dance.  We have recently joined a mom's club, and Calvin is so intrigued by the other kids near his age.  He likes to follow them around and give them hugs.  He recently completed his first series of swim lessons, and made enormous progress.  He went from screaming when he got his head wet, to being able to go completely under (for just a few seconds).  He loves his toys and plays hard.  He also loves to empty the kitchen cabinets, and seems to think that bath time is all about splashing his bath water everywhere.

If there is one thing I have learned from being a parent, it is that the day goes much better when I can let go of being in control.  Calvin has taught me how to sit back and enjoy life's little moments - and with him, there are so many little moments to enjoy!  He is a joyful little soul, and our little sunshine.

Calvin's First Halloween

My bundle of love in his first halloween costume!

Calvin at 10 Months

Caitlin's roommate took these photos for us when we were in Utah.  Isn't she talented?
